Behold wins the MV Country Cup in a Canter

June 21st, 2008

Behold made it back-to-back city wins by taking out the Moonee Valley Country Cup in excellent fashion on Saturday.

Backing up after a terrific win over 2400mtrs in the wet a week early at Sandown, Behold treated his competitors with contempt taking out the Country Cup in great style.

Ridden perfectly by Craig Newitt, Behold was always in striking distance of the leaders and rounding the home turn he unleashed a very impressive sprint to gap the field by 3 lengths at the winning post.

All credit for the win must go to Tommy for a tremendous training performance in bringing this horse back in distance a week after a tough win in the wet and being able to get the horse to still let done with an outstanding sprint  even when coming back 400mtrs in distance.

Behold (Zabeel  - Tajrebah) is starting to show his true ability in only his second prepararation with

Tommy Hughes and has come on in leaps and bounds since he first arrived in the stables from Lloyd Williams operation last year.  Still only a lightly raced, this strong Zabeel  has proved himself to be a horse with a real future and will step out next in a few weeks in the $100,000 Banjo Patterson over 2500mtrs at Flemington, which will be his last run for this preparation.  He will then be set for some nice races in the Spring and if he keeps on improving, the sky’s the limit for this promising stayer.
